Dr. Joe's Vision: Our Blueprint for the Future

Now that things have settled down here at our new home in Daly City, I want to spend a moment with you sharing some of my thoughts about Wachters'. What I think about most are the many ways we can continue to build and expand Wachters' according to the founding vision of Dr. Joseph V. Wachter, Sr.

Making this move was very important to the company. It was a requirement of our revitalized effort to fulfill Dr. Wachter's vision of the company serving the world with sea vegetation. He saw a bright future of quality products at competitive prices without any compromise in any way. We now have the right kind of space to carry out his dream and, more importantly, for his dream to grow into ours.

Dr. Wachter's son, Dr. Joseph V. Wachter, Jr. - Dr. Joe - poured his father's dream into me as I grew up at his knee, so to speak. I began working with Dr. Joe at age 15. It seems several lifetimes ago now. He talked to me like his daughter. He knew that I would one day take over the company. Dr. Joe saw I had a passion for the company and respected what his father and the two sons had set out to do so many years ago. Each year he gave me greater challenges to work on.

Dr. Joe taught me the product formulas. I have them practically memorized. I watched him tinker with the formulas in his lab until he was satisfied that he had provided the best nutrition possible in each tablet or powder.

As we worked side by side, Dr. Joe would talk to me. He wanted to invest in me every one of his thoughts and ideas about building a crusading company. He saw a slow steady growth over the years. He always said, "Invest in the present. What you do now will show up three-to-six months later."

Sometimes as Dr. Joe talked to me, I got a glimpse of his father's energy and commitment: Dr. Wachter - Joseph V. Wachter Sr. - creative inventor, research scientist, entrepreneur, a man who loved people and getting together where he would play the piano (remember he was a concert pianist!), an evangelist. At times, I got the feeling that Dr. Joe was following the same path as his father.

Dr. Joe taught me to mistrust "hype." "We will always be 'product-driven,'" he said so many times. "So many companies just sell hype," he would say. "There's no value in their products. I've seen too many companies go out of business when they sell hype."

"To many people, selling is just money," he would say. "That's not us. That's not Wachters'. He taught me to make an honest product, build an honest business. Never cheapen the products. Buy first-quality ingredients. Make the products according to the highest standards and then tell people about them. Trust that people will continue to buy them, once they've tried them," he said. "But above all, sell quality. Quality brings back customers."

Dr. Joe taught me to focus the company and our Executives and Distributors on setting realistic business goals. He raised my awareness of the importance of the relationship of Wachters' with its customers when he said, "Make a friend of your customer. Customers are not just money machines. They're people who have feelings and goals and dreams, just like we do. And Wachters' products can really help them with their health."

In the last convention in Washington, DC., at which he spoke, Dr. Joe talked about going on a crusade to take Wachters' to the world. Everyone stood and applauded for a very long time!

With the move to Daly City, I am taking Wachters' into a space that can honor Dr. Joe's original vision while making room for the future that you and I will create together. The vision is simple: Bring Wachters' to the world.

I am confident that Dr. Joe's vision is still right for Wachters', right for our Executives and Distributors, right for all our customers. As Dr. Joe did, I want to hear your suggestions and ideas. Each of your ideas has been and will continue to be considered in the light of our carefully prioritized goals as well as our fiscal integrity. As a result, you will see many, but not all, of your ideas and suggestions reflected in the company's focus and operations.

The years of guidance and instruction from Dr. Joe have given me a blueprint for Wachters' which is timeless in both its product and customer service integrity. It is a blueprint which urges us to go forward with renewed understanding of the partnership between the Home Office and you, our Executives and Distributors.

Together, we will bring Wachters' to the world by telling one new person about our powerful products each and every day. Invite people to try a Wachters' product. Tell an old customer about one of Wachters' products she hasn't tried. Most importantly, keep in touch with all your people. Wachters' has always been a people business.

Our wonderful products really help people. Let's work together to get the word out!
